Sengoku Heat Mate Portable Radiant Kerosene Heater 10,600 BTU , Beige #HMHR-1101

Sengoku Heat Mate Portable Radiant Kerosene Heater 10,600 BTU , Beige #HMHR-1101 Review

I've been using this heater for several years and have had no problems whatsoever. About 1/2 the heat is radiant, the other half is hot air rising from the unit.

It will burn for 12 to 14 hours before having to refill its 1-gallon removable tank. During this time, it emits no smell at all. The heat adjustment range is from 90% to 100% - like any kerosene heater, it is not safe to try to turn it down below this range.

The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because the electric lighter bulb burns out too easily - it is like a flashlight bulb without the glass bulb - when you press the igniter, the bulb's glowing filament presses against the wick, igniting it - if the wick doesn't break the filament. In this case, a long wand butane lighter works just fine.

It is true that the very first time a kerosene heater is lit, it will stink. Once the burner has come up to operating temperature for the first time, the metal parts become annealed and ready for use. If the other reviewer lit it for the first time indoors, not knowing this, it would have been a very unpleasant surprise. The first time should be outdoors. After that, you can take it inside.

Winter Insurance Claims - Will You Have Less Insurance Claims in Winter?

Winter insurance claims happens with different frequencies, and for different reasons, as loans in other seasons.

Spring and summer bring thunderstorms, tornadoes, heavy rain and forest fires. Hurricane season lasts until 30 November.

In autumn and winter, people start to think about it, remain warm. Thus, heating-insurance claims increase in frequency, such as:

• Central heating systems to ensure - that you have a heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC)Contractor will check your heating fires are caused by the malfunction to prevent weapons.

• Fireplaces - who does not like the scene of a quiet, romantic fire in the fireplace? But before you build that first fire, have a chimney sweep clean the chimney. It helps prevent fire, these are terribly destructive. Logs in the firebox can also roll-out on the ground, and flying sparks can fire, which spread throughout the house can begin. To make sure that you have a usefirescreen or some other fireguard for protection.

• Heating Appliances - I'm talking about kerosene and propane heaters, electric baseboard heaters, portable electric heaters...even electric blankets. Remember that when you pull these appliances out to be used, they haven't been used for months. Take the time to check them carefully. Look at electrical cords and plugs, heating elements, and fuel reservoirs. Make sure everything works safely. Also Remember that these devices should not be placed for long periods, nor in the near flammable objects.

Take the risk of keeping warm by practicing simple safety measures.

The opposite of heating demands is the loss of cooling circuits. Cold temperatures can burst plumbing systems, which cause damage to water, which may be so extensive as to raise a fire. For those who live in the north and spend the winter in the south, you will find take special precautions, the heat stays inyour northern house while you're away. Have someone check on your house weekly.

What about winter transportation? Slippery and icy roads make driving hazardous. Here are a couple tips about driving in winter:

• Drive a little slower.

• Keep more distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of you. Stopping distances are much longer on slippery roads.

• Turn your headlights on every time you use the car. Daytime running lights increase your visibility by about 70%.

Winter doesn't have to include an insurance claim for you! Be safe and be aware of the perils around you. Then, you can enjoy winter with peace of mind!

If you have experienced an insured loss, whether auto, business, fire, wind, flood or other, you need to know winning insurance claim strategies. The insurance company will not tell you the claims process, but I will. I will show you how to take control of your insurance claim, and add hundreds or even thousands more Dollars to your claim settlement. For more information, visit the website listed below.

Carbon Monoxide - The Silent Killer

Winter is a very dangerous time for carbon monoxide poisoning.

Carbon monoxide is a gas that comes from burning fossil fuels such as gasoline, kerosene, methane, propane, oil, coal and wood.

It is impossible to detect with the five human senses, but it can cause illness and even death.
It hurts us instead of oxygen in the blood and can result in a sufficient quantity of suffocation. Low doses cause symptoms that feel like the flu. Larger amounts of bloodleads to headaches, nausea, dizziness, collapse, coma and ... finally death.

What are the sources of carbon monoxide? Poisonous carbon monoxide into the house-hold in the air, usually burn from the various areas in which fossil fuels.

* Vehicle emissions
* Home heating (space heaters, gas stove, kerosene heater, wood stove
* Stoves
* Charcoal Grill

Of these three automobile emissions kill the most people per year.

NOTE:Danger of carbon monoxide poising is higher for children 4 years old or less, and for older people 75 years or older.

10 Safety Tips

1. Cars from turning off the engine and remove key from the ignition when the car parked in the garage. If the garage is attached to the house, always warm up the car outside your house, never in the garage.

2. Have your vehicle checked every year for exhaust leaks.

3. Do all your burning fuel, equipment checked every yearwell, to ensure that combustion is clean and there is no risk of CO leaks. Do this before the heating season.

4. Make sure that all heating equipment is located where there is a sufficient supply of fresh air for safe combustion.

5. If you ensure an open fireplace, that the fireplace is open to ensure the chimney is safely vented.

6th kerosene heaters are illegal in many states. Make sure they are legal in your state before buying or using one.

7.Gas-firedGrills deliver dangerous CO fumes. You need not be inside the house or garage, not used with the door.

8. When purchasing new heating or cooking appliances, choose one with the approval by an independent testing laboratory.

Ensure 9.When buying a new home, a qualified auditor that all systems are heating and cooking in safe operating condition, including the garage shall be sufficient, sealed out of the house to prevent automobile fumesinside.

10. When camping, use only battery-powered heating and lighting in tents, caravans and motorhomes. Never use fuel burning appliances inside.

Consider buying a CO detector. Carbon monoxide detectors are electrical devices that will sound an alarm if the CO gas in air reaches a dangerous level health ... be detected before any symptoms.

Sengoku CV-2230 KeroHeat Convection 23,000-BTU Portable Kerosene Heater Review

This heater seems to be as good as claimed. You do need to be sure to set it up as instructed. First burn outside. Adjust wick as instructed. Have only used it a few times so far, but am pleased. I've discovered virtually identical heater labeled with different names around. Assuming one manufacturer makes it for different companies. (much like major appliances). The up side to this is that hopefully wicks made for various named heaters will be interchangeable. Have not had to replace wick yet, so we'll see. Overall happy with product.

Home Heating Systems - Which System Is Best For Your Home?

You may find yourself at the point to replace the creation of your old furnace or heater. They have all the use they could get from it and now it's time for something new. Here is a brief list of the different options for home heating.

Furnace

A furnace is the popular choice for heating at home by most homeowners. Of gas, electricity, oil or propane, electric oven uses a fan powered hot air through the lines and go into your home.

The largestProblem with this type of forced-air systems is their efficiency. Furthermore, the sealed pipes are kept up to date or your heat is lost.

Another reason for their popularity is because they are also used for central air conditioning in summer as well.

Boilers

A kettle of hot water to work and then circulated to radiators, baseboard units or radiant heat pipes, which can be placed under the floor. Although not as popular as furnaces, a boiler system canbe very efficient and is an excellent choice if you do not have central air.

The disadvantage is the cost of installing radiant heat into the ground.

Baseboard Heaters

Electric baseboard heaters are another home heating option to consider. They are easy to install and can be used when needed. The biggest drawback is the cost of electricity from power them. There is so much higher than for natural gas.

Other HeatingOptions

Fireplaces, wood stoves, space heaters and kerosene heaters are also available options for heating at home this winter. They can be very inexpensive, but must allow adequate ventilation and caution in dealing with them.
